My uncle told me to always pre-stretch Berber before cutting, even on a small job.

I ignored him on a 10x12 install in Tempe last year and ended up with a visible ripple after a month. Anyone have a good rule for when you can skip that step?

My buddy skipped pre-stretch on a Phoenix sunroom and it buckled in two weeks.

Skipped pre-stretch in Phoenix? That's like asking for it to fail. The heat out there is no joke, it'll warp anything not set up right. Two weeks is actually fast for a total buckle. Your buddy learned the hard way that shortcut costs way more later.
