Caught my coworker claiming he fixed a leak under the sink with duct tape and hope

He posted a photo of a cracked PVC pipe wrapped in tape and called it a permanent repair, but I saw the water damage in the break room ceiling two days later and now I'm wondering if anyone else thinks duct tape is just a temporary cover for bad choices?

Do you really think duct tape is always just a quick fix though... I mean yeah in this case it clearly failed but I've seen people use it on a loose garden hose connection and it held for like two years. Sometimes a roll of tape and some stubbornness can be a legit solution if you know what you're doing... PVC pipes under pressure are a different beast though that's just asking for trouble. Not all duct tape repairs are bad choices, sometimes they're just good enough for the moment.
