Showerthought: the $12 I put into a Cameo for my boss's birthday came back to bite me in the best way
I paid $12 for a D-list reality star to record a 30 second birthday message for my boss, and he accidentally said the wrong company name and called her "Greg." She laughed so hard she printed the screenshot and taped it to the break room fridge, and now three people on my floor have asked me for the link. Anyone else have a cheap Cameo moment that went sideways in a good way?
Honestly a screenshot taped to the fridge that gets three people asking for the link is not nothing. That is a whole week of desk small talk right there, and for twelve bucks you basically bought office fame. Calling it mildly funny feels a little stingy when the woman laughed hard enough to print it out.
He laughed so hard she printed the screenshot" is the part I keep coming back to, because twelve bucks for a genuine laugh from your boss is a pretty good deal no matter how you slice it. But I have to wonder if the bar is just really low here. A robot voice saying the wrong name is funny for like a day, and then it is just a screenshot on a fridge. I am not trying to ruin the vibe, I just think we call a lot of dumb stuff legendary when it is really just mildly funny. If the whole floor is asking for the link though, that is a sign it landed, so maybe I am wrong.
