That $75 'verified' Twitter checkmark from that singer was a total scam

I paid this semi-famous singer $75 for a verified checkmark he promised through his social media page. Turns out he was just running a fake giveaway and never delivered anything. Has anyone else fallen for a celebrity promising stuff they never actually gave you?

Oh man, that is rough. I once sent $50 to a guy who said he was a washed-up boy band member on Cameo and promised to shout me out during his "comeback livestream." Turns out it was just a dude in his basement with a cheap wig and a bad cover of Bye Bye Bye. I guess we all learn the hard way that if a celebrity is asking for direct cash for something like a checkmark or a shoutout, it's probably just a scammer who watches too many infomercials. At least your $75 bought you a good story about how gullible we both are, right?

That same $75 figure is exactly what I spent on a "verified" badge from a social media influencer who claimed he had a deal with Twitter. I used to think these offers were legit if they came from someone with a decent following, but getting ghosted after payment really opened my eyes. Now I see it the same way you do - if a celebrity is asking for direct cash for something like verification, it's almost certainly a scam.
