I swear, watching some celebrity try to backpedal from a social media fail is like watching a kid in my 7th grade class try to convince me their dog ate their homework. The other week, this rapper posted a pic with a caption that clearly had a typo making it sound like they dissed their own manager. Instead of just saying 'my bad, autocorrect,' they went on a whole rant about how the typo was 'intentional wordplay' and part of their 'artistic vision.' By the time they deleted it 6 hours later, 30,000 people had screenshotted it. Has anyone else noticed how a simple 'oops' would save celebs so much drama?

Three of those 30,000 screenshots were from me, and I watched the whole thing unfold in real time. Look, the guy's explanation was clumsy but I kinda get it - rappers spend years crafting a public persona where every move is deliberate, so saying "I just messed up" breaks that whole illusion. Sometimes the damage control of admitting a dumb mistake is worse for their brand than doubling down on the weird explanation.

Wait, isn't there a middle ground though? Like, he could've just said "yeah that was a dumb mistake lol" without making it this whole weird thing. I mean, pretending you meant to do something embarrassing just because you don't wanna look sloppy feels way more fake than just owning up to it.
