Had one perfect week last summer where every commute was by bike

Honestly, it was back in June and I committed to biking to work every day for 7 days straight. Monday was rough with a headwind that made me 15 minutes late, but by Wednesday I figured out the backroads through the park that saved me from traffic. By Friday I had this routine down where I'd grab a coffee from the corner shop and feel the morning air. Has anyone else managed to stick with a car-free week and actually enjoyed it more than you thought?

My friend Gary tried that car-free week last August... ended up locking his bike at the wrong rack outside the library and walked around for 45 minutes in the rain trying to find it. By Thursday he found it leaning against a dumpster with one pedal missing. He still talks about how much he loved the feeling of coasting down Main Street though, says the air smelled different than from inside his truck. Never did get that pedal replaced, just walks faster now.

Wait, did you say you did 7 days straight back in June? Most folks I know count a work week as Monday through Friday, not a full 7 days. That's a solid stretch though, especially on backroads through the park... I did something similar a few years back and found the biggest shock was how much I missed the quiet time in the car to mentally prep for the day. You grab that coffee on foot or balancing on the bike? That's a skill I never mastered without spilling half of it.
