Question about the push for all electric cars in my town

At our city council meeting last Tuesday, they voted to ban new gas stations, but when I asked where the extra power for all these cars would come from, the mayor just said 'the grid will handle it' which seems like a huge oversight for a plan that affects 15,000 people.

Exactly, it feels like they're just hoping for the best without doing the hard work. We had rolling brownouts last July when everyone was running their AC, and now they want to add a massive new drain on the system. It's not fair to the people who actually live here and deal with the results. They need a real plan with numbers, not just a feel-good vote.

Typical politician answer right there. That grid is already stressed on hot summer days. Adding thousands of electric cars charging at night is a huge new load they haven't planned for. They need to show the math on power generation and grid upgrades, not just hope it works out. It's putting the cart way before the horse.
