Serious question, didn't that influencer who lied about her charity actually get a documentary deal?
I was scrolling through YouTube last night and ended up watching a 20 minute video about this TikTok influencer who faked a whole fundraising campaign for a children's hospital back in 2022. She raised over $100,000 supposedly for medical supplies but pocketed most of it. The video mentioned she got dropped by her management and lost like 80% of her followers. But then the comments were buzzing about how she just landed a two-part docuseries on a streaming platform. Is getting cancelled actually a career move now? Has anyone else noticed this pattern where the worse the scandal, the better the comeback deal?

Wait is that actually true or just one viral video? I watched something similar and it turned out the docuseries was optioned before the scandal broke so it's not as simple as the bad behavior paying off. In my experience these redemption docs usually come with some kind of catch like revenue sharing with the people they hurt.

Dude YES the "getting cancelled is actually a career move" thing is SO real. I literally watched the same thing happen to a beauty guru who lied about donating proceeds from a palette to animal shelters. She got blasted online for like a month, then BOOM she pops up with a "redemption tour" on a major network with some soft focus interview. It's like the WORSE the scandal the bigger the payday. That docuseries thing sounds exactly like what this other influencer got after faking cancer, I swear they're just playing us all now.

Girl YES @evan_wilson18 you are so spot on. I watched this one fitness influencer go viral for selling fake detox tea that literally sent someone to the hospital. She got DRAGGED for weeks, everyone was calling her a scammer. Then out of nowhere she lands a deal with a major supplement brand and does a whole "I've learned my lesson" video on her channel. It's like the more toxic the drama, the more money they make. They KNOW the algorithm rewards outrage so they just ride the wave straight to the bank.
