That one week where everything just lined up perfectly
Last month I had a Tuesday where I set up a new job on the Haas mill and the first part came out within .001 of print. No tweaking, no re-cutting, just hit the button and it was golden. Then on Thursday I ran a 50 piece order with zero scrap, which never happens for me. Tool change times were under 10 seconds and I was home by 3 pm each day. Has anyone else had a stretch where the machines just cooperated like that?

Oh come on, it's just machining, not a miracle.

Had a buddy who worked at a shop that was making parts for some military gear, high tolerance stuff. They had this one old machinist who could hold a tenth of a thou just by feel, no DRO, no fancy tooling. Guy retired and they couldn't find anyone else who could do it for months, had to send the job to another state. So yeah, it's machining, but it's also kind of a miracle when you see what some people can do with a hunk of metal and a lathe.
