Appreciation post: the $14 Aeropress filter I ignored for 2 years

Bought a cheap metal filter two years ago, used it twice, hated the sludge, went back to paper, and now I realize I was just grinding too fine the whole time, so has anyone else blamed a tool when it was actually their grind setting?

Bought a burr grinder upgrade last year and swore my old blade one was fine until I smelled what fresh grounds actually taste like. Turns out the tool was fine, I was just lazy about dialing it in.
