My pour over took 45 minutes to dial in after 3 weeks of bad cups

Tbh I kept blaming my grinder but it was my water temp all along, boiling then waiting 30 seconds wasn't enough in my Denver kitchen. Anyone else burn through a whole bag just figuring out one variable like this?

Burning through a whole bag just to figure out one thing is the most frustrating part of this hobby honestly. I did the exact same thing with my V60, blamed my cheap grinder for weeks, swapped beans, changed my pour technique, everything. Turned out my water was way too hard, like mineral heavy, and it was stalling the drawdown every single time. I finally got a little test kit and a filter pitcher and it was a night and day difference, but I wasted like two bags of good Ethiopian beans before I figured it out. The worst part is those bad cups make you question every single step you do, so you chase the wrong variable forever. Denver elevation probably makes the boiling point thing way worse for you too, that 30 second wait is definitely not cutting it up there...

wait your water being too hard can stall the whole drawdown?
