TIL that $60 manual burr grinder I bought was a total waste

I dropped $60 on this fancy hand crank grinder from a local shop in Portland last month. Thought it would give me better consistency for my morning pour-over. But after three weeks the burrs got misaligned and it started throwing out uneven chunks. Has anyone else had a cheap manual grinder fall apart on them like this?

Whoa, wait did you check if the burrs just needed a quick adjustment before you gave up on it? I had a similar issue with mine and it turned out the little screw holding the outer burr in place had just wiggled loose. Made a huge difference once I tightened it back up and ran some rice through it.

And my buddy had the same thing happen with his grinder, he got so mad he just tossed it in the trash... then his girlfriend fished it out and fixed it in five minutes with a tiny screwdriver he had sitting right there. She said it was just a loose burr carrier, nothing actually broken. He still won't admit she was right though.
