A customer in Seattle made me rethink my whole approach to data backups

I was setting up a new workstation for a small law firm last month, and the office manager asked me to verify their backup system was working. When I showed her the cloud sync was active, she looked me right in the eye and said, 'But can you show me a file restored from last Tuesday?' I had to admit I hadn't actually tested a restore in months. How often do you guys do real restore tests for clients?

My buddy tested his backup generator by turning off the main power and ended up without internet for two days.
