Can we talk about people who still use PS/2 ports for their mouse?

I had a customer bring in a tower yesterday with a crusty old PS/2 mouse plugged in... took me 20 minutes to convince him USB is faster. He kept saying 'but it's always worked fine' while his cursor was stuttering across the screen. How do you even handle folks stuck in 2003 like this?

Whoa, hold up - isn't everyone forgetting that PS/2 ports use interrupt-based signaling while USB polls? That means for high speed gaming mice, PS/2 actually can have lower latency in some edge cases. Not that I'd ever use one, but let's not pretend USB is always faster for everything.

Oh man, I gotta push back on that one @the_adam! The whole interrupt vs polling thing is way overblown for modern gaming. USB 3.0 and even 2.0 poll way faster than any PS/2 setup can handle, and the interrupt delay on PS/2 is actually worse for modern CPUs that are juggling a million things at once. Plus PS/2 can't do high DPI or multiple buttons properly, so it's a total non-starter for real gaming.

That PS/2 mouse story reminds me of the time my neighbor refused to switch from dial-up because he "liked the sound." Old habits die hard I guess. How did you finally convince the guy to swap over?
