Just realized thermal paste is way less critical than I thought
I spent like 10 years obsessing over every tiny application method. Spreading it perfectly, worrying about too much or too little. Then last month I slapped a glob the size of a pea on a customer's old Optiplex and just let the cooler smash it down. Temps dropped the same 5 degrees as my perfect spreads. All that YouTube paranoia over a $5 tube of paste. Has anyone else stopped caring about the perfect dot pattern?

Does it really matter if temps are fine either way?

@derek656 are we talking idle temps or under load? Because those are two very different conversations.

Honestly, people overthink this stuff way too much.
