Thought liquid cooling was stupid overkill until I worked on a render farm
Always figured air cooling was good enough and liquid was just for showoffs. Then I had to fix a rig running 24/7 rendering 3D scenes that kept throttling after 6 hours with a Noctua cooler. Swapped it for a simple AIO loop and temps dropped 15C. Anyone else change their mind on something they swore was pointless?

Used to think water cooling was just for people who wanted to show off their fancy rigs with RGB lights. Figured my big air cooler was plenty, like you said. Then I spent a weekend trying to figure out why a buddy's video editing PC kept crashing mid-render. Swapped in a basic AIO and that thing ran like a dream after that. It was one of those moments where you realize you were totally wrong about something. Now I'm not saying everyone needs it, but for sustained heavy loads it really does make a difference. Definitely opened my eyes to why people bother with the extra cost and setup.
