Old foreman told me to wet the subgrade before a pour. I thought he was nuts.
Worked up in Detroit last summer on a 40-yard driveway pour. Foreman, guy named Pete with 30 years in, kept saying soak it good before we dump. I figured it would just make mud. He was right though, the concrete sat better and we had way less cracking after 48 hours. Any of you guys do this or is it just an old timer thing?

Fair enough @lindaowens but maybe it's just me, I've seen it cause more issues than it solves when you oversoak and end up with a soupy mess at the bottom. I usually just dampen it a bit and call it good.
