A quiet thing I see a lot of new video makers miss

I keep noticing people put a ton of work into their video's look and sound, but they forget to check the audio levels before they post. I watched a creator I like put out a great tutorial last week, but the intro music was so loud it made me jump and I had to scramble for the remote. It's a small thing, but it makes your stuff feel unpolished and can actually drive viewers away in the first few seconds. I learned this the hard way about a year ago when I uploaded a vlog and my first three comments were just people asking why I was whispering. Now I always run my final edit through a free tool like Audacity just to see the waveform and make sure nothing spikes. It takes two minutes and saves so much hassle. Does anyone have a different method they use to catch this stuff before hitting publish?

Wait, you had to learn that from comments on your own video? That's wild! My ears would have been burning with shame. It's such a basic step, but it's so easy to miss when you've been listening to the same audio on loop for hours. Your brain just tunes it out. Running it through a visual check like Audacity is the only way to be sure. I'm shocked more editing software doesn't have a big, obvious loudness meter right on the main screen.

Yeah, I just keep a loudness meter open in a second window now.

Nancybailey's right, just watch the waveform.
