inShowerthought: My neighbor's kid explained the 'distracted boyfriend' meme to me at a cookout.
That bit about the internet rewriting the story is spot on, @mitchell.val. It's like a game of telephone where we all agree the new wrong version is funnier or more useful. The original context doesn't matter once the meme fits a vibe people want.

inMy uncle said to always start with the moon, but my first try at Jupiter was a blurry mess.
Honestly, your uncle's advice is outdated. Starting on the moon wastes time. It's a bright, easy target, but planets need totally different settings. Jupiter is dimmer, so your focus and exposure are way off when you swing over. I just go straight for the planet, use live view zoomed all the way in on a star or Jupiter itself, and tweak the focus ring until it's a tiny sharp point. Got my best shots that way, no moon needed.

inI just smoked a brisket for 14 hours straight and only got 4 hours of sleep, which made me realize the 'no wrap' method everyone loves is actually a huge waste of time.
Watched my buddy stubbornly smoke a brisket without wrapping for like 16 hours last summer. He was so proud of the bark but when he sliced it, the flat was like jerky. We ended up chopping most of it into chili, which felt like a waste of good meat. He went back to using butcher paper the very next weekend, said the difference in moisture was night and day. Some of those no-wrap methods just don't seem to work on every smoker or for every piece of meat.

inI used to think booking flights on Tuesday was the best deal, but tracking prices for a trip to Lisbon proved me wrong
My cousin works for an airline and she told me it's all over the place now. The Tuesday rule died years ago. I check prices on Sunday nights and Wednesday afternoons and just watch for a week. Sometimes the price drops on a Thursday morning for no reason. You just have to be ready to book when you see a good number.

inTried a new penetrating oil on a seized caliper bolt, it snapped clean off.
Wait, have you ever tried heating the bolt first? @maryt62, I get the acetone mix works for some, but I've seen too many rounded-off heads from hammering. A little heat from a propane torch makes a HUGE difference, then you can usually just turn it out normal. That hammer shock can mess up the threads or the tool in my experience.
