Debate: Scripted YouTube videos vs. off-the-cuff recording, which actually performs better?

I spent 6 months doing fully scripted videos with tight editing and got 500 views average. Then I tried a raw, unscripted vlog style on a whim and that one hit 12k views last week. So is it really the content or the delivery that makes the difference for you guys?

Did you feel more natural on camera with the unscripted one, or was it just luck?

Did you feel more natural on camera" - honestly that's the whole thing for me too. When I script, I sound like a robot reading lines. Off the cuff, I actually talk like a normal person and people seem to like that way more. Same thing happened to me, scripted stuff got nothing, rambled for 10 minutes about nothing and it blew up.
