I spent $300 on a 'professional' thumbnail design course and it taught me almost nothing new.

Saw a video last week where a designer said most courses just repackage free YouTube info. He broke down a popular thumbnail course and showed how every "secret" was just basic contrast and face zoom rules. Makes you wonder what you're really paying for sometimes. Did the course at least give you project files or templates?

Honestly, @williams.kim, that's a really good point. The real value might be in the structure and having someone lay out a clear path. A lot of free info is out there, but it's a mess to sort through on your own. A decent course saves you that time and effort, which can be worth the cost. The problem is when they hide that fact and pretend they're selling magic tricks instead of a simple, organized guide.

My buddy's course was just a slideshow of Pinterest screenshots.
