Spent $400 on a video lighting setup I never use because my window lighting is actually better

Bought a three point LED kit from Amazon last March after watching too many tutorials. Set it up once, hated how flat everything looked, and now it sits in a tote under my desk. My south facing window at 2pm gives way better shadows. Anyone else drop cash on gear that just collects dust?

Those LED kits kill mood. Try bouncing a desk lamp off the ceiling instead.

Nah I gotta disagree with you there man, LED strips done right can actually set a vibe way better than a desk lamp bouncing off the ceiling. I've got some dimmable RGBIC ones in my living room and I can dial in exactly what I'm feeling - warm orange for chill nights or cool blue when I'm gaming. A desk lamp just throws one flat color and feels like I'm still in a dorm room or something. Maybe you just haven't seen a good setup with diffusers and proper placement, cause when it's soft and indirect it's way more immersive than any lamp I've tried.
