Ngl, a buddy's critique of my floor plan saved me $8k
Back in 2022 I was dead set on this open concept layout for my place near Austin. A contractor friend walked through and said 'you're gonna hate the echo and lack of storage.' He was right, I switched to a semi-open plan with a pantry closet and it made a huge difference. Anyone else get a reality check from someone that changed their whole build?

Man I used to be all about knocking down every wall for that wide open look. But seeing how much storage you guys saved by keeping some walls definitely changed my mind on that. Now I'm thinking pantry space beats an open echo chamber every time.

oh man my buddy saved me from making the same mistake. I was gonna knock down a wall for an open plan and he was like "dude where you gonna put ALL your junk" and yeah he was right. Ended up keeping a half wall and it gave us way more cabinet space. Cost a fraction of what I would have spent fixing it later.
