Visited a custom build site in Asheville last week and saw them using ICF blocks for the foundation

The contractor told me the R-value was nearly 50 compared to standard poured concrete, so I'm wondering has anyone else here made the switch to insulated concrete forms for their own builds?

Why would you want a house that basically suffocates from moisture issues?

Used ICF for my basement last year in western NC. Best decision I made, the place stays at a steady temp even when the power goes out. Just make sure your crew knows what they're doing with the forms or you'll fight with them all week.

Wait, your place stays a steady temp even when the power goes out for real? That's wild, I didn't think ICF was that good at holding temperature without any HVAC running. I always figured it helped with insulation but not like full on thermal battery mode lol. How long did it stay comfortable for you when the power was out - like hours or days? I'm honestly kind of shocked that's even possible with just concrete and foam.
