Appreciation post for hardware 2FA keys after my aunt got phished last month

My aunt lost access to her Facebook account after clicking a fake login link in a DM, and it took her 3 weeks to get it back. I switched all my important accounts to YubiKeys about 6 months ago after reading a post on here about SIM swapping. Has anyone else had success getting older relatives to use physical security keys?

Honestly, aren't you just making it harder for someone to break into her account if she loses the key?

Three weeks without Facebook is brutal, my aunt went through the same thing with her Instagram last year. @henderson.vera thats a fair point about losing the key, but honestly most people misplace their phone or get locked out of their authenticator app way more often. A YubiKey sits on my keychain right next to my house keys, so its basically the same risk as losing your actual keys, and you can buy a backup for like 25 bucks and keep it in a drawer. Have you ever tried walking a 60 year old through setting up Google Authenticator on a new phone though? Because my aunt struggled with that for two days straight.
