PSA: I think keeping the wifi password simple for guests is a bad move
Many people say a simple password is fine so family and friends can easily connect. However, I've noticed that weak passwords make your whole home network an easy target for snoops. I always set a strong, unique passphrase and share it only with trusted folks.

Create a guest network with its own password if your router supports it. That way visitors get easy access without touching your main network where all your personal stuff lives. I set mine to expire after a day or two for extra peace of mind. It's a good middle ground between being hospitable and staying secure.

My own tech skills are so bad I should probably put myself on the guest network, good tip @evan482.

Reading about weak passwords being an easy target, I get the concern. But @evan482's guest network idea is smart for splitting things up. I actually use a simple password for my guest wifi because most visitors just need quick access. As long as it's on a separate network, the risk is low. Plus, changing it now and then adds a bit of safety. For me, being hospitable without hassle is worth the small trade-off.
