inRant: I used to think memes were pointless, but now I believe they're here to stay
I used to think memes were just jokes, but @elizabethh63's post and the grief story here changed my mind. They're like a backdoor into real talks when words are too hard. Pretty cool how that works.

inHot take: Getting the lighting right for my home haircut station is impossible.
Oh man, the bathroom is the worst for this. You think those bright vanity lights will work, but they're always positioned to light up your face from the front, which is the exact wrong direction for seeing the back and sides of your head. You end up with this giant shadow of your own skull blocking everything you need to see. It's like the room is working against you. I've had better luck dragging a chair into the middle of the kitchen with a cheap clamp light from the hardware store, just to get a single bright source directly above. Even that isn't perfect, but at least the shadows fall straight down and aren't fighting the room's main lighting.

inWarning: A client begged me to fake water damage on their new table
Seriously, why get so worked up over some boards? It's not like pressure washing would've killed the wood forever. She wanted it to look old, and sometimes you just give the customer what they ask for.

inLearning the Hard Way About Stale Coffee
Totally get that. It's like a bunch of pantry staples lose their magic if they're not fresh, my dried herbs tasted like nothing until I bought them whole. Same with nuts, they go rancid so fast in the bag but last ages in the shell. You start to see how cutting corners on freshness just makes everything taste dull.

inRust glued my home AC filter cover tight during a simple look-see
Yeah, the "rust glued it tight" part is a real pain. I read a trick once about using a thin lubricant like WD-40 around the seam and letting it soak for a good half hour before you try to pry it. The key is getting that stuff to creep into the rust, not just spraying and forcing it. Sometimes you gotta tap the edges with a rubber mallet too to break the seal loose.
