Rant: Overheard a coworker say passwords don't matter anymore
I was grabbing coffee last Tuesday and my coworker Tim told the new intern that passwords are old news because everyone uses MFA now. He literally said 'just use 1234 for everything, the authenticator app saves you.' I nearly choked. First off, MFA fatigue is real and people fall for push notification spam all the time. Second, weak passwords make you a target for brute force attacks that can lock your account before MFA even kicks in. Has anyone else dealt with colleagues spreading stuff like this on purpose?

Tim's been at my office for like 4 years and he still uses the same password from when he started. Honestly is MFA really saving him or just making IT reset his stuff every other week?

Honestly, I feel for you. That Tim sounds exactly like the guy at my last shop who had IT on speed dial. MFA's great in theory but when someone's that stuck in their ways it just becomes another hurdle for everyone.
