Found an alternate ending for The Mist on YouTube that changes everything

I stumbled across a deleted scene where the ending is completely different, no bittersweet sacrifice just a straight up rescue. Has anyone else dug up a cut that totally flips the movie's whole mood?

Honestly, I found the exact same alternate ending about two years ago on some random fan channel and it totally wrecked me. The one where the military rolls in with flamethrowers and the mist just dissipates like it never happened, right? In the version I saw, Thomas Jane's character doesn't even pull the trigger, he just sits there crying while the monsters retreat and a helicopter shows up. Ngl, it makes the whole movie feel like a straight up survival thriller instead of that hopeless gut punch we all got in theaters. I actually prefer the theatrical ending, but that alternate cut is wild for how much it changes the message of the story.

Three years ago I found a bootleg DVD of that alternate cut at a horror convention and honestly I don't think it's that deep. The military showing up with flamethrowers and the mist disappearing feels like the same Hollywood cop out you see in every monster movie from the 50s. In the theatrical ending you at least get that raw moment of human desperation that actually makes you think. The alternate version just gives you a clean escape and a helicopter shot which is basically every disaster movie ending ever. I think people overhype it because it's rare, not because it's better.
