That $80 customer comeback on a fuel system flush still gets me

Used to just dump the old fuel back in after a filter change on pickups, now I haul it out in cans and refill with fresh diesel. Has anyone else had a customer complain about smoke before you even finished the job?

And oh man, I learned that lesson the hard way too. Customer watched me dump old fuel back in and the smoke was so bad I had to give him a discount just to keep the peace.

Yeah that one stings. I used to think a quick filter swap and dumping the old fuel back was fine. Then a customer came back complaining about smoke and rough idle on his diesel. Changed my whole approach now I take the time to drain and refill fresh. Saves me the headache of a comeback and the customer leaves happier.
