Showerthought: I bought a $120 'pro' brush pack for digital painting that I never even opened.

It was a big deal a couple years ago, thinking I needed the best tools to get good. The pack is still sitting in my downloads folder, a total waste. Anyone else have a digital art purchase they completely regret?

Oh man, that hits way too close to home. Bought a fancy drawing tablet on a big sale, told myself it would change everything. The box is basically a very expensive dust collector on my shelf now. Felt like having the tool would magically make me a better artist, which is obviously not how it works. Still just doodle on my old one when I bother to draw at all. That kind of purchase guilt is a special club.

Saw this thing once about how fancy gear can trick your brain into feeling productive without actually doing the work. Totally get that guilt, it's the worst.

Honestly, that brush pack isn't a total waste just sitting there. Sometimes having the tool ready in your back pocket is what lets you jump in when you finally feel ready. Guilt is a pretty bad motivator, and it's okay that stuff waits for its moment. Better to have it and not need it right away than to hit a creative wall and wish you did.
