Finally stopped using coworking spaces after that disaster in Medellin

Last month at Selina cowork in Medellin, I spent 6 hours on a Zoom call with 4 bars of WiFi that kept dropping. The internet went down completely around 2 PM and they took 3 hours to fix it. That was the moment I realized paying $150 a month for shared chaos wasn't worth it. Has anyone else switched to just working from coffee shops with a personal hotspot?

Switched to a library with my hotspot and never looked back.

My local library branch on 5th Street has this back corner room with six cubicles that barely anyone knows about. I discovered it during a power outage last year and now I go there three times a week minimum. The wifi is reliable enough for video calls and the outlets are actually built into the desks so you don't have to fight for floor space. I bring a thermos of coffee and a sandwich and I can get four solid hours of work done without any of the home distractions. The best part is nobody judges you for camping out all day because half the people in there are doing the exact same thing. I honestly feel like I hacked the system somehow.

Exactly! Thats what I did too once I realized I was basically paying rent for a glorified storage unit I barely used. The public library near me has all the free wifi I need, plus quiet rooms with actual desks and outlets everywhere. And honestly, theres something about being around other people quietly working that keeps me more focused than sitting alone at home getting distracted by my fridge. I grab a coffee from the cafe downstairs before I go in and I'm set for hours. Its saved me so much money and I feel less isolated too, you know?
