My basement ceiling dropped 2 inches in 3 years and I never noticed until the drywall cracked

I moved into this old house in 2021 and finished the basement right away. Looked great, no issues. Fast forward to last month I was hanging a new light fixture and noticed the ceiling had this weird dip near the main beam. Got my level out and measured. 2 full inches of sag over time. Turns out the previous owner had a hidden leak from a old shower drain that rotted out a joist. It was such a slow thing I just got used to it day by day. My wife walked in and asked why I was staring at the ceiling with a tape measure. Has anyone else had a hidden structural issue that went unnoticed forever?

Is it really that serious though?

Dang man, that's rough. 2 inches is a lot of sag to not catch earlier, hope the fix isn't too painful.

Man, a buddy of mine found a whole family of raccoons living under his porch after a year.
