Got told my section views were 'too busy' and it actually helped

Honestly, a senior drafter at my old firm in Phoenix looked at a complex foundation detail I was proud of and said, 'Morgan, you've got every bolt and weld, but I can't read the dang thing.' He told me to cut the detail count by half and use more callouts. I started grouping similar elements and using a simpler hatch pattern. Has anyone else had a piece of harsh feedback that really improved your work?

Ever tried using a lighter hatch pattern too?

Yeah, my old boss called that 'clarity over completeness'.

My old drafting teacher would fail you for using more than three line weights on a page. But maybe that strictness is why his blueprints never had a single RFI.
