My old plotter in the office just gave up the ghost last Tuesday.

It was a 36 inch HP DesignJet from 2012. The feed motor started making a grinding sound and then just stopped pulling paper. I had a big set of MEP plans due that afternoon. Had to run everything to the reprographics shop on 5th Street and pay $75 for a rush job. Anyone know a good place to get a used plotter motor fixed, or is it just time for a new one?

That grinding sound from your 2012 HP's feed motor is basically its death rattle, so I'd just start shopping for a new one.

My 2010 HP did that same grind. I found a used feed motor on eBay for like 25 bucks and swapped it myself. It's still going, so maybe don't listen to @jesse994 just yet.

Check if HP still sells that motor as a part.
