Just burned $150 on a cheap stillson key from the hardware store
Bought a no-name brand 14 inch stillson at a discount store last month. Broke on the third joint I used it on. The handle just cracked right where the jaw meets. Had to borrow a Ridgid from the guy next to me to finish the job. Lost half a day messing with returns. Anyone else had a cheap tool cost you more than you saved?

Ha! Yeah I feel your pain, I once bought a cheap wrench set and the damn thing snapped on the first bolt I tried, just left me staring at the handle like it owed me money. I ended up spending more on gas driving back and forth to the store to swap it out than I would've saved just buying the good one upfront.

Fair point about the gas money, but I'm gonna push back a little. I've had cheap tools last me years if I'm careful with what I'm using them for, so it really depends on the job. The way I see it, a budget wrench is fine for light work, it's just not meant to be your main hammer.
