Tried the cheap $40 table saw blade from Home Depot vs my usual $120 Freud blade on a job last Saturday in St. Albert.

Honestly, I've been using Freud for years because everyone says you gotta spend big on blades. But I grabbed that cheap Diablo knockoff on a whim when I forgot my good one at home. Cut through some pressure treated 2x4s and it was fine. Took a little longer but no burning or chipping. Now I'm wondering if I've been wasting cash this whole time. Has anyone else tried the budget blades and been surprised?

That Diablo is the same brand as Freud just their budget line. Did you check whether it was actually Diablo or some no-name brand?

Wait, isn't Diablo actually owned by Freud though... I thought they bought the brand years ago. They're not really the same quality though, Diablo is more for the weekend warrior while Freud is for pros. I had a Diablo blade warp on me once after a few months of light use, never had that happen with a real Freud. But you're right to double check the packaging, some stores mix in generic stuff with the name brand stuff.
