Talking to a plumber about PEX totally changed my mind on copper

Had a long chat with a guy from Wyckoff Plumbing while he was fixing a leak in my basement. He said for residential work in Edmonton, PEX handles the freeze-thaw way better than copper ever could. Now I actually get why so many new builds around here are switching to it. Anyone else made the jump to PEX for their reno projects?

Yeah, "handles the freeze-thaw way better" is exactly why I switched. Plumber told me copper can split even with good insulation if we get a real cold snap here. Ran PEX through my crawlspace last summer and it was way easier to install too, no soldering or torch needed.

Read somewhere that PEX is actually less prone to pinhole leaks over time too, which is what made me nervous about copper in the first place. Seems like the freeze-thaw thing is just an extra bonus for colder climates.
