Master electrician Bob in Phoenix told me to stop using push-in connectors

He said they’re fine for temporary but fail long term on 15 amp circuits. I had three service calls in one month where push-in connectors melted on ceiling fans. Switched to screw terminals and haven’t had one call back since. Has anyone else seen push-ins fail like that on lights or fans?

Whoa, fused to the switch? That's insane, never heard of that happening.

Forgot a push-in connector was on a light switch once and it melted hard enough to fuse the wire to the switch. Had to cut the whole thing out and rewire it. That was a dumb mistake I won't ever make again. The screw terminals are just more reliable for anything that cycles on and off a lot.
