Question about loose governor linkage in a Schindler 330A
I was doing a routine PM on a Schindler 330A over at the old Mercy Hospital building downtown yesterday, and I noticed the governor linkage arm had about 3/16 of an inch of play in it. Nobody had flagged it in the logbook, not even the last two inspections. Has anyone else run into sloppy governor cable tension causing intermittent door zone errors on these older units?

Tightening the linkage to spec fixed the same issue on a 330A I worked on last year. The play was causing the door logic board to see intermittent signals and drop the car out of service. Zero problems after I got the cable tension back where the manual says it should be.

Fair enough, but I've seen a few of these 330As where the linkage was tight and the problem was actually a failing board from the factory. Sometimes they just go bad regardless of cable tension. That door logic board seems to have a shelf life.

Been wondering if the actual harness connectors on those boards are the weak point... had a 330A where the pins looked fine but the plastic housing was cracked just enough to let things shift around with temperature changes.
