Still bitter about that 'premium' door operator upgrade

The sales guy swore the new AC drive would save us 30% on power costs. After 6 months of tracking, our building's bill dropped maybe $12 total. Has anyone else had a sales pitch that just didn't add up?

My brother fell for a similar pitch about a "smart" thermostat for his house. The guy said it would learn his schedule and cut his heating bill by 20%. Three years later and that thing still turns the heat on when he's on vacation. I swear half these "energy saving" upgrades are mostly about making the installer feel good, not actually saving you money. Your $12 drop sounds about right for how these things usually shake out in real life.

The thermostat learns patterns, not a vacation calendar, so it's more user error than a scam.
