Question about a client's skin reaction that made me rethink my whole approach
I had a regular client come in for a glycolic peel last week, and she had a much stronger reaction than expected. It turned out she'd started a new retinol serum from her dermatologist two days before, which she didn't think to mention. I realized I'd been rushing through the pre-service consultation checklist for months. Has anyone else found a better way to get a full, current product list from clients before starting a treatment?

I used to trust clients to volunteer that stuff, but now I make them write it down.

Honestly, that's a classic move right there. Tbh I'm surprised she didn't also mention her recent sunburn from a vacation in Mexico. Ngl, my checklist has a big red box now that says "TELL ME ABOUT ANY NEW GOOP YOU PUT ON YOUR FACE" and I make them initial it. It's the only way to get through to some people.

My checklist has a "new goop" section too. I still forgot to tell my barber about a face oil last month and walked out looking like a glazed donut.
