Serious question, has anyone else tried giving away branded socks at a tech conference?
We had a booth at a big developer event in Austin last month and our usual swag (pens, stickers) was getting ignored. I saw a post online about useful items, so we ordered 500 pairs of cheap crew socks with our logo. We put them out with a sign that just said 'Tired feet?'. They were gone in under 3 hours and we got more real conversations from people wearing them than from any giveaway before. What other 'weird but useful' booth items have actually pulled people in for you?
What was the actual cost per pair for those socks with the logo? I'm trying to figure out if this is a budget thing or just a genius idea that works at any price.
