TIL corporate event swag bags actually matter less than I thought
At a tech conference in Austin last spring, I noticed a huge shift from previous years. Back in 2019, people were grabbing every USB drive and branded notebook they could grab. But at this year's show, I saw attendees walking right past the swag tables. My booth gave out custom socks and they sat untouched until I started bundling them with a simple handwritten thank you note. Then people actually took them and smiled. Has anyone else seen this change in how people react to freebies?

Custom socks sat until you added a note? That's WILD.

Nah, I used to think free stuff was all that mattered too... this really changed my mind.

Same here honestly, that note part really hit me because people just want to feel seen even in small ways like that. It's crazy how a tiny personal touch can flip the whole vibe of free stuff.
