Changed my mind about a catch can after a dyno day

Ngl I always thought oil catch cans were just snake oil for these trucks. But last Saturday I was at a dyno event in Phoenix and this guy Mike with a 5.0 showed me his intake valves after 30k miles with one. They were spotless while mine had that nasty black gunk building up. I pulled the trigger on a JLT kit that afternoon and installed it Sunday. Has anyone else seen actual carbon buildup differences with one?

Man that carbon buildup problem really hits different once you actually see it side by side. It's wild how many little things we brush off as "not worth it" until we get concrete proof right in front of us. Kinda makes you wonder what else we're missing out on just cuz we assume it's hype.

30k miles seems like a solid test period, what octane were you running in the truck during that time?

I used to swear by 87 octane in my old F-150, thought paying extra for premium was just a waste of money. But after running 93 octane for a good 15,000 miles in this truck, I noticed the towing feel way smoother, especially going up a long grade near the Rockies last summer. My gas mileage actually went up about 1.5 mpg on the highway, which surprised me. Your mileage may vary, but for me, the higher octane made enough of a difference that I'm sticking with it now.
