Just realized my cold air intake was causing a lean code after a year of no issues
I was driving up the grade on I-5 near Redding when the check engine light came on and the truck started hesitating. Pulled the code at an AutoZone and it was a P0171, so I checked the intake tube and found a small crack near the clamp that I must have overtightened. Has anyone else had a lean condition pop up out of the blue after a mod had been working fine?

Ever check if the crack let in extra heat from the engine bay? Hot air is less dense, could mess with the MAF reading even more.

Man, a whole year before it gave up the ghost? That's some impressive delayed failure right there. Gotta love when a tiny crack you can barely see decides to ruin your whole drive. Bet that hesitation felt real nice on a grade. Classic case of "it was fine until it very much wasn't.
