My brother said a cold air intake was a waste for my 3.5L EcoBoost

He told me to just get a tune instead, but I found a used AFE intake for $150 and tried it anyway. The turbo spool sound is way louder now and I swear it pulls harder above 4,000 rpm. Has anyone else seen real gains from just an intake on the newer trucks?

Oh man, Simon is totally right about the factory box. They're not the old plastic junk anymore. The real kicker is that a tune can actually change how the truck uses that extra air you're pulling in. So you got the cool sound now, but a tune would be like giving the computer a new set of instructions to really take advantage of it. That's where you'd feel a bigger difference everywhere, not just at the top end.

You're right about the sound, that's the best part. But on the newer trucks, the factory box is already pretty good. That feeling it pulls harder is probably from the cooler, denser air it can grab on a hot day, not huge power. A tune would unlock way more, but for $150, you got a great noise maker.

Wait, you got a whole AFE intake for just a hundred and fifty bucks?
