I finally understood why the #NoPlasticJuly hashtag faded so fast

It was all over my feed last year, but now it's gone. I think these challenges need real community support to stick around, not just online hype.

Guess these trendy hashtags have the same lifespan as my motivation after New Year's. Everyone was posting their metal straws like it was a revolution, then poof. Turns out saving the planet is harder than just changing your profile picture for a week. It's basically the avocado toast of environmentalism. Super popular until the next shiny thing comes along.

Wait, the metal straw thing was just LAST YEAR? @reed.vera I swear that feels like a decade ago. My brain can't handle how fast these trends move now.

Yeah, the "avocado toast of environmentalism" line is so true. It becomes this surface-level trend people do to feel good, not a real habit change. Without that deeper shift, it just disappears when the next trend pops up.
