My niece's whole friend group is obsessed with those 'day in the life' text-only story apps
I was over at my sister's place in Toledo last weekend and her kid was glued to her phone, just reading these long, plain text stories about fictional characters. She said it's all they do now instead of watching videos. It feels like a throwback to old forum roleplay, but with a slick app. Part of me thinks it's just a quiet fad that'll fade when the next shiny thing comes along, but another part wonders if this is a real shift back to reading and writing online. Has anyone else seen this take off with people you know, or is it just a local bubble?

Seen my little cousin doing the same thing in Cleveland. It's just another app eating up time, like those clicker games or personality quizzes. They're not exactly reading Dickens, it's mostly stuff about pop stars or fake drama. Give it six months and they'll all move on to whatever new phone trend comes next. Feels less like a shift and more like kids finding a different screen to stare at.

Exactly! My niece is glued to it too, just like @owens.nina said. It's all gossip and listicles about bands I've never heard of... feels like a flash in the pan to me. They'll get bored once the next shiny thing pops up.

My buddy's kid was showing me her feed last week, and it was just endless slideshows like "Which Sandwich Are You?" and deep dives into some singer's nail art. She spent an hour watching clips of people pretending to be mad about made-up TV show fights. It's the same time-wasting stuff, just with faster cuts and a different logo.
