Tried to jump over a snow pile on my bike, ended up face-first in a bush
So last week I saw this huge mound of snow plowed at the end of my street and thought I could totally clear it on my mountain bike. I pedaled like crazy, launched off a little ramp, and got maybe 2 feet of air before my front tire nosedived straight into a frozen bush. I landed with my face all tangled in branches and my bike on top of me. Has anyone else completely misjudged a stunt and ended up eating snow or shrubbery?

Wait, you actually thought clearing a snow pile on a mountain bike was a good idea? I can't believe you went for it without scoping out the landing first, that's insane. Hope the bush didn't fight back too hard, man.

Scope out your landing every time, no exceptions. I've eaten dirt more times than I can count from not checking what's on the other side of a jump. Last winter I hit a pile that looked solid but had a frozen rut underneath, sent me straight into a fence. Now I always walk the line first, even if it feels like overkill. Saves your bike and your back in the long run.
